Mast Caps

Mast caps served as protective coverings and anchor points for various rigging and equipment. Typically made of wood or metal, mast caps were securely fastened to the uppermost part of the mast, providing a stable platform for the attachment of additional elements. The primary purpose of mast caps was to provide a secure and stable base for the rigging and equipment located at the top of the mast. They helped distribute the weight and forces exerted on the mast, ensuring structural integrity and preventing damage or wear. Mast caps also acted as protective coverings, shielding the top of the mast from the elements and reducing the risk of water penetration or decay. In addition, they often featured sheave wheels or pulleys, enabling the passage of ropes or lines used for hoisting and adjusting sails or flags. Wooden Model Ship Fittings Mast Caps come in a range of sizes and shapes.
