Leon Griffiths

Leon Griffiths has been modelling for many years. He has a background of working in the navy at which time he developed his love of ship modelling. Leon is an outstanding modeler. He builds in any scale required and has completed 55 ships, scratch built and from kits.

In more recent times Leon has worked extensively as a consultant repairing damaged, fragile and older model ships. This is a time-consuming task and it is because Leon has a deep knowledge of historical ships as well as ship modelling techniques that he is able to undertake important restoration work.

In the past Leon scratch built the early range of Australian historic model ships for Modelers Central. Scratch-building the first prototype of one of our new designs can take two to three times longer than it would to build the kit version of the model.
